| Athletes win all-sports trophy
Noblesville High School has claimed the 2001-02 Mike Landis All-Sports Trophy for athletic excellence in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference.
The trophy is given to the school which finishes in first place when boys and girls sports are combined. Scoring is based on each team?s final place in conference standings.
Hamilton Southeastern was second, followed by Zionsville in third, Brownsburg in fourth, Lafayette Harrison in fifth, McCutcheon in sixth, Avon in seventh, and Westfield in eighth.
In girls' sports, Noblesville won the conference?s all-sports trophy. The girls were led by the golf and basketball teams, both of which finished first in the conference. Three teams - swimming, tennis, and softball - finished second in the conference.
The second-place school in girls' sports was Hamilton South-eastern. Zionsville was third.
Noblesville?s boys finished second in all-sports standings to Hamilton Southeastern. Zions-
ville finished third. The boys? teams were led by the basketball team which finished in a first-place tie with Avon, and the cross country and baseball teams which finished second.
The combined all-sports trophy is named for Mike Landis who was athletic director at McCutcheon High School and a founder of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. Landis died in a car accident in December 2000.
