The Forest Hill Walking Club
The Forest Hill Walking Club will begin again on March 13th. What is the Walking Club? It is an activity that motivates students to become more fit and gain an appreciation for walking as a lifetime exercise. The Walking Club gives third and fourth grade students an opportunity to walk laps on a designated area during their morning recess whenever the student chooses to participate. This activity encourages individual goals and not competition. The participating students are encouraged to set personal goals and work on achieving them. In addition to having structure for recess time, the students will be exposed to the benefits that walking can provide. Walking is the most basic form of exercise and can help children become more fit, burn calories, reduce stress, be emotionally fulfilling, and most of all fun. Perhaps this is an activity that can become a family event a few evenings a week. Have fun and become a walker!!!

Testing for Second Grade
It's that time again! We will be testing Second Grade students beginning March 6 and continuing through March 15. Students will be taking an achievement test as well as a cognitive abilities test. We feel it is more appropriate to test Second Grade students in the spring versus the fall. This allows for a less stressful beginning of the school year and will also hopefully help prepare our students for the taking of ISTEP+ next fall as third graders. As always, student attendance is very important and students should make every effort to attend school during the test period. Parents, please lend your support by encouraging your son or daughter to do their best. Adequate rest and a good breakfast will help students perform to the best of their ability. If you have specific questions, please contact your child's teacher or Mr. Sherrill.

SPRING PROGRAM
Believe it or not! The Spring Program is just around the corner. It will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 1:30 and 7:00 pm. Second and third grades will be involved. Reminder- all third grade students need to bring a plain white t-shirt to school. We will begin painting these next week.
