SPFC to hold last meeting on May 24
With Spring Break behind us, committees are busy finalizing the two biggest events sponsored by SPFC each year. The Academic Honors Banquet will be held in the NHS cafeteria at 7 p.m. on May 10, and the afterprom will be at Cooper's Stardust Bowl during the early hours of May 14, from 1-3 a.m. Both of these committees are making final preparations for very successful festivities. Many parents put in lots of volunteer hours planning, preparing and supervising these very special events for our students. We thank everyone for their willingness to make SPFC?s endeavors successful.

The Academic Honors Banquet was detailed in the recent School Zone publication that goes to every home in Noblesville, and you can read the details of the afterprom in another article in this publication.

The last SPFC meeting of the school year will be held on May 24. We will have a pitch-in, so bring an appetizer, salad or dessert. We will begin at 6:30 in the cafeteria. Bring a friend or a spouse for a brief business meeting, installation of 2000-01 officers, and a chance to socialize and celebrate the success of another school year.

Activities planned for prom-goers
This year's afterprom will be held May 14 from 1-3 a.m. at Cooper?s Stardust Bowl and is again sponsored by the SPFC. It is an exciting, fun-filled event following the prom and promises to be a wonderful way for students to be with their friends, to eat lots of food, to play games, and win fabulous prizes. All this is free of charge due to the generous donations of parents, community members, and the SPFC. Students can get tickets the first two weeks of May during lunch hours from a junior class officer. In addition students will have the opportunity to go to King's Island the next day, May 14. SPFC and the afterprom coordinator, Pam Lehman, have organized buses to transport students and chaperones to King?s Island. The cost will remain the same as last year, $35 per student, and will include bus trip and admission, as well as snacks and prizes during the bus trip.

The buses will leave at 8 a.m. from the flagpole at NHS and leave King's Island at 6 p.m. (Indiana time) to return home. Tickets for this trip will also be on sale along with prom and afterprom tickets.

Alert:
Change in 2000-01 school calendar affects finals
Because NHS will complete its first semester prior to the winter break in December 2000, final exams will be administered from December 18-22.
Note: requests for pre-arranged absences during final exams will not be approved.
Please make your travel plans for after the semester is completed on December 22.

Target Guest Card can help NHS
Did you know that by using your Target Guest Card you could earn money for NHS and SPFC projects?
Once you sign up and receive your Target Guest Card, one percent of your total will be donated to the school you have selected every time you make a purchase with your card. Target began this program in 1997 and so far 277 people have signed up and selected NHS. Since the program began, NHS has received $623.73 and will receive more on the next payout date.

The more people that sign up and use the card, the more money earned by our school. Anyone can participate - parents, grandparents, and friends of NHS. You can sign up at any Target store. Think of NHS when shopping at Target.

Playschool to be offered again next year
The NHS child development class will operate a playschool for four and five year old children. The starting date is scheduled for Oct. 2 with an open house for parents at 1 p.m.

The first semester playschool will end Dec. 15. Second semester?s playschool will start Feb. 5 and end on May 18.

The playschool will start at 1:05 and end at 2:25. It will meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The cost of the playschool for each semester is $45.

The curriculum will allow child development students hands-on experience with planning and working with four and five year old children. The students plan activities that will help young children socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically.

If you are interested in enrolling your child, please call Jean Fleming at NHS, 773-4680.
