Children raise $18,858 for Wish Fund

The first-grade students at Hinkle Creek Elementary School raised more than $19,000 for the Children's Wish Fund in a walk-a-thon at schol on Tuesday, March 28.

Joe, a first-grader, just finished his last chemotherapy for a brain tumor that was removed 1 1/2 years ago. To celebrate his success and to thank the Indiana Children's Wish Fund for granting Joe his WISH trip to Disney World, the first-grade children and teachers decided to raise money to make sure another child could have a wish granted.

Another first grader, Alexander, has a 2-year-old sister that was diagnosed with leukemia in December. Michaela will undergo chemotherapy for several months and when she is 3 the Indiana Wish Fund will grant her a "wish."

The average cost for a wish is $3,700, and Hinkle Creek's goal was to raise that amount.
