| Marching Millers prepare for competition
Join the Noblesville Marching Millers and Golden Guard on Monday, August 5, as they prepare for competition at National City Band Day at the Indiana State Fair. This year's state fair performance will include Malaguena and Riverdance.
Monday's community event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an ice cream social at Swanson Field. Ice cream, water, and lemonade will be sold until 8:30 p.m. for $2 per person. The charge will be waived for anyone who donates bottled Gatorade to the band. (The Gatorade will be taken to the state fair on Wednesday for the band members to drink throughout the day. Last year, the band went through approximately 300 gallons of Gatorade at the fair.)
The band will present their show in full costume at 7 p.m., also at Swanson Field. The band will run through the show two times. THE PERFORMANCE IS FREE.
Band Day at the Indiana State Fair is Wednesday, August 7. The Marching Millers are scheduled to present their show at about 12:56 p.m. at the grandstands. The Sweet Sixteen will be announced between 3:30 and 4 p.m. The final competition will begin at 8 p.m., with the final results announced around 10:30 or 11 p.m.
The 100-plus members of the band have been working on their show for several weeks. They completed a week of morning-to-night practice at band camp on Friday, August 2, in preparation for the state fair competition.
